Just got a Fitbit

Sure i ordered it in October and it took forever, but it’s finally here. I now have a fitbit

For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a little clip you were around. The clip (called a “Tracker”) contains a motion sensor like the ones found in the Nintendo Wii. The Tracker senses my motion in three dimensions and converts this into useful information about my daily activities. The Tracker measures the intensity and duration of my physical activities, calories burned, steps taken, distance traveled, how long it took me to fall asleep, the number of times I woke up throughout the night and how long I was actually asleep vs just lying in bed.

It’s pretty awesome stats and all i have to do is wear this little clip. Also, the clip uploads the data to my Mac without attaching it. All in all, it’s pretty sweet.

One thing i’ve noticed is how nice the web interface is. Entering in foods, water, and stuff is a breeze. Anyway, it’s my first day with this thing. We’ll see how it works. Stay tuned.

Mike, you should check out The Gruve Solution — http://www.muveit.com/. My brother works there!

I don't know much about FitBit — the sleep componant looks cool — obviously I am a GRUVE devotee. The science behind it (Mayo) is really fascinating. When did you order the Fitbit? I know they had some production issues.

I am a member at 24 hr fitness and when I joined and had a trainer like 3 years ago, I purchased th BodyBug. The thing was huge and annoying. But it did work, just got tired of dealing with it. Looks like those things have come a long way in 3 yrs.

yeah – for instance it's sending the info from the clip to my computer automatically. No docking, no nothing.

How do you like it?? I keep going back and forth on whether to order a fitbit or a Garmin GPS watch. Thanks.

i like it. It does a great job of monitoring my activity and the site is really slick. I don't think it's nearly as good as a Garmin of tracking a workout. In fact, i'd say they are complete opposites. Fitbit is great for everything BUT a workout. If you are tryign to get something as a training tool, i'd go for the Garmin
